Packaging and Shipping Information
Packaging Information
Packaging a painting (for shipping) is a tricky thing for paintings need to be handled carefully to avoid any kind of damage. It is heartbreaking to see a tiny scratch or smudge on any painting, for any art lover.
Stretched canvases with wooden frame will be covered in a plastic sheet and bubble wrap, followed by thick cardboard box to protect its content. The back of the frame (which is exposed) will be fitted with thick sheet of thermocol to make it an even package and no distress to the canvas.
Large paintings canvas are usually rolled and placed in a tube container with adequate bubble wrap padding and plastics sheet. The tube container will be thoroughly sealed, making it air tight during transit.
I personally pack the paintings for I know best what materials work for the given artwork. Oil paintings need very careful packaging as the softer areas may be scratched or erased if they come on direct contact with bubble wrap or plastic. Due care will be exercised to keep the painting the way you saw it.
Whilst due care is taken to pack the paintings, the buyer can request for and specify any special treatment such as extra layers, box volume, fillers, etc., for the art canvas.
