Watch 'Lust for Life', one of very few movies done on his life. I have bought it, because it was the only way I could bring his spirit closer to me...sounds strange...but we love Van Gogh.

Have you heard 'Starry Starry Night' by Don Mclean, I listen to that every day. Last week saw a local musician singing that in a cafe in Jerome...lol...I went upto him and told him how lovely this was...and he sang it again. Let's see if I post a video of him singing it.

Very true, Jay! He lived a hard life, sold only one painting in spite of giving his life to the art. And he died - alone, disappointed and destitute. But his paintings convey so much more than what meets the eye. Strangely, like you said, there is lot of joy and happiness felt in most of his celebrated depressing works. To call Van Gogh a genius is an understatement. Those paintings are the journey of his soul.

i haven't seen any of his movies but his paintings are enough it is like whenever i see his paintings a spark of imaginations goes off. I see things through his eyes :love, life, death, sorrow, despair, hope light, determination everything just name it , it is so cool. Whenever i see his paintings i feel good even the sad ones have hope in them it just tells that other people can convey their emotions in such a way that other people can feel them this is what I call successful artwork and Van Gogh has certainly showed this , i wish he was here to see the majic his artworks have created.
