If Pizza means getting one from Pizza Hut or Pizza Corner, then this one is not for you. Nothing compares to a good home made pizza, made with right ingredients, good pizza sauce and ofcourse, Love.

Farm Fresh Vegetables Topped on Home Made Pizza Sauce

Farm Fresh Vegetables Topped on Home Made Pizza Sauce - Ready to go into the Oven

To make the best pizza you can, focus on three things: Fresh vegetables, good mozzarella cheese and good pizza sauce made with fresh tomatoes. What about the pizza base? It gets cooked anyway ;-) and if on wood-fired stone oven… nothing like it.

No pizza sauce recipe is written in stone. There are no hard and fast rules for making it as the ingredients and thier flavours differ from region to region. It is all about experimenting till the sauce tickles your taste buds right. Here is my current version of tomato sauce for pizza, which can also be used for making pasta.

Ingredients for a Good Pizza Sauce for the Base:

Olive Oil – 2 tbsp
Butter – 1 tbsp
Chopped Onions – 1 cup
Garlic – 2 cloves
Fresh Chopped Tomatoes – 10
Grated Parmesan Cheese – 2 tbsp
Sugar 1/2 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Bay Leaf – 1
Dried Oregano – 1 tsp
Dried Basil – 1 tsp

How to Make the Pizza & Pasta Sauce:
Melt Butter. Add Oil.
Fry Onions and Garlic.
Add chopped tomatoes. Then add all the other ingredients one by one.
Cook well and leave it to simmer for 40-50 minutes.
Stock up and store in your refrigerator for anytime use. For storage, remember to sterilise your glass bottle and dry it thoroughly before use.
If you want to use it right away, preferably make your own pizza dough though it may seem cumbersome and use fresh vegetables.

Thin Crust, Deep Dish or Classic,
Florentine, Margherita or Supreme,

OMG! Italian cuisine is my love! I tried so many ways of making pasta sauce…and yes, I agree..the best sauce is the one made at home! When making Arabic dishes…this sauce also works, only the spices are a bit dfferent. Since I LOVE mushrooms, I add a bunch of those. I loved your recipe….hey..I’m hungry now.
